Square Enix has released another one of the company’s classic RPG titles on Android and iOS. This time around they have launched a mobile port of the Norse mythology inspired Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.
Valkyrie Profile is a story driven RPG with a turn-based combat system that has a unique combo system. The game offers a large number of playable characters spread across six different classes, multiple difficulty settings and different endings.
Lenneth was originally a PlayStation Portable version of the original Valkyrie Profile. It was mostly faithful to the original Japanese release of the game, with a few minor changes and updated cinematic scenes.
Now the game has arrived on Android and iOS in a release that might ruffle a few feathers. Despite a premium price tag ($15.99) the game also lets users buy boosters through in app purchases. Though the game’s IAPs are far from being as egregious as most F2P titles, premium games with in app purchases can lead to users who are less than happy with their purchase.
Along with the game’s in app purchases Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth has seen a number of changes made in the mobile port. The most obvious and necessary is of course an updated user interface and control scheme to better suit touchscreen devices. The game also has graphical changes and now allows players to save anywhere and autosaves in order to be better experienced as an on the go title. Another of the game’s new features that might upset seasoned players is the inclusion of the option to use auto-battle in combat.
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is $15.99 and contains in app purchases. Here is a trailer with a look at the game:
