The Weekly Roundup: Mar 30, 2018

The Weekly Roundup

This was a banner week for new releases thanks to a host of new RPGs and several premium games. The week saw two new games from Bandai Namco, a new puzzle game published by Devolver Digital, a gacha game from the company behind Summoners War, a JYDGE dispensing justice, and much more.

As always, while the new free Android games on this list might get the most attention, don’t overlook new paid games. Paid games can often provide a better value as they’re not trying to push you towards in app purchases or wasting your time with advertisements.

Here are 10 new games released in the past week you should be aware of:

Chain Strike

In a week full of new Android RPGs, Chain Strike might be the best of the bunch. Com2uS’ latest is a turn-based strategy RPG that plays out on a 5 by 7 game board as players carefully move their heroes in order to maximize the amount of damage they can do. The hero collection game features plenty of different heroes to collect, levels to play through, and even some large scale bosses to take on. Chain Strike is free and contains in app purchases. Diceroll Studios Devolver Digital have teamed up to release a unique puzzle. Umiro stars schoolmates Huey and Satuara as they navigate the world by solving colorful stylized puzzles. While the game’s visuals might at first bring to mind titles like Monument Valley, the gameplay shown promises a unique experience. The game rewards players for planning ahead and while keeping timing in mind as they guide the game’s heroes by drawing their paths forward. Umiro is $2.99 and does not contain any ads or in app purchases.

Honkai Impact 3rd

Honkai Impact 3rd is a new action RPG with a great presentation and a combat system that rewards players for timing their attacks and dodges. In the game users take control of one of the Valkyries, the game’s powerful heroes as they take on waves of enemies. Players will need to dodge and time their attacks in order to maximize the amount of damage they can inflict on the enemy. The game’s other component, as is often the case, is powering up the Valkyries and equipping them with powerful stigmata that players can acquire in a variety of ways. Honkai Impact 3rd is free and contains in app purchases.

JYDGE is a top down shooter that lets users customize their characters and the way they approach each mission. Players are tasked with taking down the bad guys in the neon filled city of Edenbyrg as they blast their way through the game’s levels without any real regard for the mayhem they leave in their wake. Players not interested in being quite as loud also have the option to go with a stealthier approach. JYDGE is $5.99 during it launch sale and does not contain any ads or in app purchases.

Sword Art Online: Integral Factor

One of two new games from Bandai Namco this week, Sword Art Online: Integral Factor (SAOIF) has users relive the story of Sword Art Online through the eyes of a new character. Players can choose from a range of weapons and skill as they team up with their partner and take on the world of Aincrad. Sword Art Online: Integral Factor is free and contains in app purchases.
