This week’s new releases include the launch of a highly anticipated tower defense game, a mobile version of a popular survival game, multiple gacha games, and an innovative rhythm game.
As always, while the new free Android games on this list might get the most attention, don’t overlook new paid games. Paid games can often provide a better value as they’re not trying to push you towards in app purchases or wasting your time with advertisements.
Bloons TD 6
The Bloons are back and once again they’re after your base. Time to put down some monkeys with enough firepower to take down the rampaging bloon hordes. Bloons TD 6 offers more of the tower defense gameplay that the series is known for, but this time with a couple of new monkeys, new stages, and 3D graphics. Players can use 19 different monkeys that can be further powered up as players progress, 20 unique stages to play through, and a number of ways to make their bloon slaying a little more challenging. Bloons TD 6 is $4.99 and contains in app purchases.
Following in the footsteps of Gardius Empire and Royal Blood, both released quite recently, Gamevil is back again with one of this week’s new games. Giants War is a fairly standard hero collection game. Not the most creative game out there, Giants War gives players little control over their team of heroes and does little that has not been done elsewhere. Giants War is free and contains in app purchases.
Path to Valhalla
Path to Valhalla is an indie action platformer with RPG elements. Players take the role of a viking warrior as he hacks away at his enemies, gaining experience and levels along the way. The game offers players boss fights, pixel art graphics, and a bit of platforming, even though the game’s jumping and hitboxes are a little rough around the edges. Path to Valhalla is free and contains ads.
The latest from Iron Throne publisher Netmarble, Knights Chronicle is a turn based JRPG with hero collection. Players collect and power up their team of heroes as they tackle the game’s story and other modes. More than just a throwaway mode, the story comprises of visual novel style cut-scenes with some voice overs from recognizable voice actors. The combat system provides a reasonable amount of strategy as players choose between one of three skills during each heroes turn, taking into account targeting, buffs, and elemental advantages. Knights Chronicle is free and contains in app purchases.
ARK: Survival Evolved
Now on mobile, ARK is a survival RPG that puts players on an island with 80+ types of dinosaurs and tasks them with staying staying alive. The game gives players the option to tame dinosaurs, craft structures, and team up with other players to hunt massive creatures. The game has an optional subscription that eliminates ads, gives players double exp and more on top of having IAPs. ARK: Survival Evolved is free and contains ads and in app purchases.
