The Weekly Roundup: June 1, 2018

The Weekly Roundup

This week’s new releases include a number of major games hit Google Play. That includes a new GPS enabled augmented reality game, a game that has players rampage through different environments, a horror themed city builder, and much more.

As always, while the new free Android games on this list might get the most attention, don’t overlook new paid games. Paid games can often provide a better value as they’re not trying to push you towards in app purchases or wasting your time with advertisements.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

Though it might not wind up being the most popular, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth tops this weekly roundup. Lenneth is a remake of the original Valkyrie Profile, a classic JRPG inspired by Norse mythology. The game features a lengthy campaign filled with a varied cast of characters, a fun combat system and provides mobile users with a true RPG experience. Though it offers in app purchases, the game is not designed with them in mind. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is $15.99 and contains in app purchases.

Golems Rage

Golems Rage is a simple runner brawler has players run through the game’s levels while throwing, bashing, or rolling into any enemies that stand in their way. While they take care of anyone or anything path players will need to be mindful of avoiding traps and projectiles that can take a bite out of their health bar. They will also need to move away from any furniture or other objects that block their path and slow them down as they try to finish each stage as quickly as possible. The game offers 52+ levels across seven different environments filled with 11 different types of enemies. Golems Rage is $3.99 and does not contain any ads or in app purchases.

Goosebumps HorrorTown

Some new games are refreshing experiences filled with new and compelling features, others are exactly what one might expect. HorrorTown definitely falls into the latter category. The new Goosebumps is a by the book mobile city builder, complete with lots of timers, buildings that require premium currency, and lots of in app purchases. The set up for the game is building a town filled with a mixture of humans and monsters and then using the monsters to scare the humans. HorrorTown is free and contains in app purchases.

Hexologic is a relaxing puzzle game with plenty of style and ambiance. With just 60 levels, it’s not the longest brain workout you can get on the platform, but the simple yet sometimes challenging levels that are there still offer a compelling experience. Hexologic is $0.99 and does not contain any ads or in app purchases.

Gardius Empire

Gamevil’s Gardius Empire offers gamers elements from hero collection RPGs and mobile war games. Players will need to collect heroes and go on single player quests in a fairly standard gacha RPG experience while at the same time managing their empire and dealing with allies and enemies in the game’s overworld map. The RPG component doesn’t require much from users beyond leveling up heroes and team building, while the strategy game aspect has everything players like or hate about mobile war games. Gardius Empire is free and contains in app purchases.
