The Weekly Roundup: July 20, 2018

The Weekly Roundup

After some great games last week, we have another packed week filled with games big and small. The week’s new releases include thieving dogs, acid, Scottish chieftains, and food.

As always, while the new free Android games on this list might get the most attention, don’t overlook new paid games. Paid games can often provide a better value as they’re not trying to push you towards in app purchases or wasting your time with advertisements.

Life is Strange

DONTNOD’s story driven adventure game Life is Strange made its long awaited debut on Android this week. The game lets players dive into the story of Max Caulfield as she discovers her time manipulation abilities. The story gives players plenty of opportunities to have their say with meaningful decisions, though it might be light on gameplay for some players. The first episode of Life is Strange is free and the full game can be unlocked with the game’s in app purchases.

The dog version of Kleptocats, Kleptodogs has collect some cute puppers and then send them off to find stuff. Whatever their dogs find ends up part of the player’s ever growing mismatched object collection. It’s essentially a time management game with lots of cute dogs. There are different dog breeds to collect, outfits to dress them with, mini games, and more ways for players to interact with their canine friends. Kleotodogs is free and contains ads and in app purchases.

Hag’s Castle

Hag’s Castle is an action take on the first person dungeon crawling RPGs of the late 80s and early 90s. Players will quickly find themselves in a castle armed with a sword and spell casting magic familiar while traps and monsters block their way. Gone are the deep RPG mechanics that were often associated with the genre, in its place are 3D graphics and simple controls making for a modern, if overly simplistic, throwback to classics like Dungeon Master. Hag’s Castle is $2.99 and does not contain any ads or in app purchases.

Relic Looter

One of the simplest games of this week’s games, Relic Looter is a two button arcade game. Players will need to dodge traps, avoid enemies, and keep moving in order to avoid the constantly rising pool of acid and get out of each level alive. Players use one button to take a hop to the next tile or the other button to jump. The game’s challenge comes in trying to compete each level as quickly as possible while timing each hop just right to avoid the numerous death traps between the player and exit. Relic Looter is free and contains ads and in app purchases.

Motorsport Manager Mobile 3

The leader of the racing management genre is back with another entry. MMM 3 adds Monaco tracks, mechanics, endurance races, and a few more features to an already really well regarded package. It has also significantly upgraded the game’s graphics. Like its predecessors, it’s still a management game that’s made for motorsport fans and might not have much appeal to gamers looking for a racing game. Motorsport Manager Mobile 3 is $2.99 and contains in app purchases.
