Mobile gamers now have another GPS enabled augmented reality game to sink their teeth into as The Walking Dead: Our World goes live on Google Play and iOS around the globe.
Developed by the studio behind The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land, Our World takes the AR GPS game genre in a new direction, offering gamers a more action oriented experience than the likes of Pokémon GO and Jurassic World Alive.
The game has players team up with some of the leading characters from AMC’s television show, gear up, and take on hordes of walkers. Like other games in the genre, the new TWD game has players travel around their area looking for walkers to destroy. Upon finding them players and their ally will need to shoot (or in Michonne’s case slice) every walker that’s in their way.
Players can also team up with other survivors, build and upgrade shelters, and participate in events. Of course to successfully survive during the zombie apocalypse players will need to collect characters, upgrade their gear, and acquire new items. That’s done via loot crates that players can find after battles.
The Walking Dead: Our World was previously available in select regions as part of the game’s soft launch. While the soft launch may have given developer Next Games a chance to squash some bugs, it also left the game with a sizable number of negative reviews. Most of the issues players had with the game center around an extended maintenance that kept players from taking on walkers for a few days. While not nearly as significant as a maintenance phase like that of One Piece Bounty Rush, a few days of not being able to access the game is bound to garner some negative reviews.
The Walking Dead: Our World is free and contains ads and in app purchases. Here is a trailer with a look at the game:
