Before its second season debuts on October 27th, Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things has received a mobile game adaptation. Developer BonusXP has just released Stranger Things: The game on Android and iOS. It is made to look like a classic SNES game, and allows players to explore the town of Hawkins and its surroundings as characters from the show. The game features sections that are uniquely suited to each character, with some focusing on stealth, combat, ranged combat, racing/driving, and more.
Although the description says that this game is is true to the games the show’s characters would have played in 1984, that’s really not the case. While charming, the graphics in Stranger Things: The Game do not resemble anything that was around in 1984, a year before the original Nintendo Entertainment System was released in North America. That of course doesn’t make the game any less fun.
Season two of Stranger things will be released on Netflix on October 27th, 2017. Stranger Things: The Game is free and out now. Here is a trailer and an excerpt from the game’s Google Play description with more information:
* Explore Hawkins and its surroundings. See your favorite locations like Mirkwood Forest and Hawkins Lab. Uncover exciting areas you’ve never seen before!
* Solve puzzles with the unique abilities of each character. Lucas can nail anything with his Wrist Rocket. Nancy has a whole set of bats to swing this time.
* Collect all the Eggos and Gnomes you can lay your hands on. You never know what they might unlock…
