Capcom’s Puzzle Fighter is now available on Android and iOS after a soft launch phase. Capcom’s Puzzle Fighter is the mobile successor to Super Puzzle Fighter II, Capcom’s popular puzzle / fighting game mash-up from 1996. This time around Puzzle Fighter is free and features characters from a broader range of Capcom franchises, including Megaman, Dead Rising, and more. Players have to destroy blocks to initiate attacks and even a character’s signature skills as they attempt to take down their opponent. The only fighting that is being done happens above the puzzle game board (which players may ignore as they focus on the puzzle element).
As far as content, Puzzle Fighter is primarily a 1 on 1 PVP game. Players go head to head to determine who is the better player (and/or who has the stronger characters), with matchmaking being determined using different leagues. The characters that players collect and use can be powered up and leveled up by collecting duplicate cards, similar to leveling mechanics used in games like Clash Royale and South Park: Phone Destroyer.
Puzzle Fighter is free and contains in app purchases. Here is an excerpt from the game’s description and a trailer with more information:
…Ryu, Ken or Chun-Li (Street Fighter), X (Mega Man), Morrigan (Darkstalkers), Frank West (Dead Rising) and more come to life with VO and cinematic special moves.
