Tencent and PUBG Corp. are holding a North American invitational tournament for PUBG Mobile, dubbed the Player Well Known Invitational, featuring squads headed by PUBG Mobile content creators.
The tournament will be streamed live on Facebook, Twitch, and Youtube on August 17 and 18 at 8:00 PM Pacific time. It will pit 16 squads led by content creators against each other for the grand prize.
The mobile e-sport audience is small relative to PC and console e-sports but it has been growing recently thanks to PUBG Mobile, the continued competitive focus of mobile MOBA Vainglory, and the general rise of mobile battle royale and MOBA games.
PUBG Mobile is the leading Android battle royale game in most markets, and has surpassed 50 million downloads through Google Play. The battle-royale shooter has received numerous updates since its launch earlier this year, adding a new map, new gear, a first person option, and most recently a new mode. The constant stream of updates have helped PUBG Mobile top the list of Android Sloth’s best mobile battle royale games.
PUBG Mobile is free to play and contains in app purchases. It’s available on Google Play.
