The Pokémon franchise may be more than 20 years old, but that hasn’t stopped The Pokémon Company from consistently releasing new content. The latest release is Pokémon Quest, a new take on the Pokémon universe.
Pokémon Quest is one of two games recently announced by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, and it’s not something gamers were expected. With a cube-centric art style, the game uses simple tap based controls and lets players take on different stages using a team of three Pokémon. It’s less about capturing new Pokémon and battling trainers and more about attracting new teammates using cooking and taking on stages filled with wild Pokémon.
This is the sixth official Pokemon game, not counting entertainment apps like Pokémon Playhouse. The previous five games, TCG Online, Duel, Magikarp Jump, Shuffle Mobile and Pokémon GO all currently have over 5 million downloads on Google Play, with the exception of Pokémon TCG Online. Niantic’s Pokémon GO is a staple of the Top Grossing Games list, consistently appearing in the top five in most Western markets.
Pokémon Quest is free and contains in app purchases. Here’s a trailer with a look at the game:
