After a lengthy soft launch phase, Hi-Rez Studios has launched its new action oriented MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game. Paladins Strike is based on the company’s popular multiplayer hero shooter Paladins and features many of the same heroes.
Paladins Strike is a different take on the MOBA genre, though mobile MOBA players will find the game’s controls and interface familiar. Instead of having the same basic 5 on 5 map design that most MOBA games use, the game’s main mode takes a different approach. In Siege players have to summon and then escort a payload to their enemy’s base. There are still jungle areas and plenty of complexity to the map for those that want to master the game, but the mode leads to more action packed matches. This is reflected in the 8 minute average match length.
The new mobile MOBA’s main mode is a 5 on 5 ranked mode where players compete to be promoted into the next league. Players can also try out the game’s casual modes if they’re looking for something a little less competitive. The casual modes include Juggernaut which has players escort a guardian across the map, a Team Deathmatch mode where teams try to be the first to get 30 kills, and a practice mode.
Paladins Strike is free and contains in app purchases. Here is an excerpt from the game’s description and a trailer with more information:
