Webzen has shown off a little more of the upcoming mobile online RPG MU Origin 2. The latest game to capitalize on the popular PC MMORPG MU, Origin 2 seeks to improve on the original with upgraded graphics and a lot of new content to play through. To emphasis this, the company is “MMORPG 2.0” as a tagline for MU Origin 2.
As of today, only the Korean version of MU Origin 2 has been announced. Though the game may be released in other regions, that is not guaranteed. The first MU Origin managed to accumulate over 5 million downloads on Google Play in Korea, compared to a total of over 1 million in the rest of the world. It should be noted that MU Origin is not available in Japan and parts of Southeast Asia.
A closed beta test is set to run for 7 days between April 26th, 2018 and May 2nd, 2018. Korean users looking to test out the game can sign up on the game’s official website.
In the past few months Webzen has released two mobile games, and has a third that is currently in its soft launch phase. The billiards game Pool Time was released in January, and the golf game Shot Online Golf: World Championship had its global launch earlier this month. Both games have a modest 50,000-100,000 downloads on Google Play. The company’s upcoming strategy RPG First Heroes is currently available in Canada, Philippines, Mexico, and several other regions.
MU Origin 2 will be free to play and contain in app purchases. Here is the game’s cinematic trailer:
