Some mobile game crossover events make perfect sense, like Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works characters joining The Alchemist Code or characters from every single Square Enix franchise invading Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, others just seem bizarre. The new Lineage 2: Revolution x Monster Strike event definitely falls into the latter category.
One of the biggest games in Japan (currently the top grossing game on Google Play in Japan), Monster Strike is a gacha game that has gamers battle using a wide range of collectible characters. The game’s hook is a combat system that tasks players with flinging their enemies at enemies using a slingshot-like mechanic. It creates a lot of room for tactics and skill while still giving players with strong characters an advantage.
While Monster Strike’s popularity in Japan is undeniable, to the point that the game has spawned its own anime series, a crossover event with Lineage 2: Revolution is more than a little unusual given the differences between the two games’ art styles.
The Lineage 2: Revolution x Monster Strike event adds new costumes for L2:R players to collect and a brand new mount. The costumes are more than just cosmetic, and will help boost the player’s stats when equipped.
Along with the crossover content, players who have gotten to level 250 will now be able to begin the second class transfer quest. The first four chapters of the transfer quest are part of the new update, while the rest will be added at a later date. For more information about the latest L2:R update, see the game’s official update notes.
Also coming soon to Lineage 2: Revolution in the future is more Monster Strike content, including a new Monster Strike themed boss. On the non-Monster Strike front, players will soon be able to take on Zaken, a new pirate world boss.
Lineage 2: Revolution is free to play and contains in app purchases. It’s available on Google Play.
