The Incredibles have arrived in Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] as part of a new Kingdom Hearts Union Cross x Incredibles 2 crossover event.
As part of the new event Union Cross players will be able to collect five different Incredibles medals:
- Mr. Incredible
- Mrs. Incredible
- Bob & Jack-Jack
The Bob & Jack-Jack medal will be a reward for the event’s high score challenge event, while the rest of the Parr family will be part of a new banner.
The Incredibles 2 event is set to run until August 19, 2018.
A new Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days event has also begun, offering Kingdom Hearts Union Cross players who complete event goals up to 3,000 jewels as a reward. This separate event will end on August 9, 2018.
KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross], previously known as KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ is a gacha game that was originally released worldwide in 2016. The game lets players create their own character in the Kingdom Hearts universe and experience the game’s world in an all new story that takes place prior to the events of the first Kingdom Hearts game.
The game has had mixed reviews from fans and critics. Although it provides fans with a new story and more content from the popular franchise, it has often received criticism for catering too much toward users who spend large sums of money on the game. The backlash increased after an update earlier this year added 7 star medals and PVP content. Union Cross has found some success in terms of revenue generation and it’s currently Square Enix’s second highest game on Google Play’s top grossing games list in the United States, Canada, the UK and several other countries. Square Enix’s top grossing game in most regions? Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.
Limited time crossover events are popular in the gacha game category as they can add new, already popular, characters to established games. These characters are sometimes highly desirable and can lead to increased spending from gamers that want to make sure they get the newest hero before the event expires. Sometimes these events include original story content, such as the case of the recent The Alchemist Code Final Fantasy XV crossover, or they can be more focused on adding new characters and battles like a recent Valkyrie Connect x Modoka Magica event. Kingdom Hearts is no stranger to these type of events, and most recently added medals from Pixar’s Coco.
