Valve’s Portal franchise will make its first appearance on mobile devices (other than the Nvidia Shield devices) later this month in Bridge Constructor Portal. The game will look to combine to combine the physics based engineering puzzles of Headup games’ Bridge Constructor series with the comedic and aesthetic elements of Valve’s Portal series. Oh, and portals, there will definitely be portals. This game is being made by Clockstone Software and Headup Games, who have licensed the Portal brand for this game.
Headup Games is a developer / publisher that focuses on indie titles. Their mobile releases have included the recently released adventure game The Inner World: Last Wind Monk, and the Bridge Constructor series. The majority of their Android releases have been premium titles.
The Portal franchise became a major gaming brand with Portal, a standout title from Valve’s The Orange Box in 2007. The game combined innovative portal based puzzle solving with a lot of humour from GLaDOS, Portal’s artificial intelligence computer system. Portal 2 was released in 2011, and since then the franchise has been mostly dormant.
Bridge Constructor Portal has a scheduled release date of December 20th, 2017 on Android, iOS, PC, and MacOS. Console versions will follow in 2018. Here is the game’s debut trailer and an excerpt from the game’s description with more information:
Bridge Constructor Portal will blend the laws of structural engineering and technology straight from Aperture Laboratories into an exciting new game experience, all under the demanding gaze of GLaDOS.
