Android gamers in select regions can now play the latest Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner as the game starts its soft launch phase.
Set a thousand years after the events of Brave Frontier, the game will tell the story of Brook, a young crystal harvester that will go on a quest that will delve into the tales of the last summoner. From a gameplay standpoint, the new Brave Frontier title will feature an army mechanic that will have a large number of characters fighting in each battle. The Last Summoner should not be confused with Brave Frontier 2, which is currently available in Japan. The Last Summoner is a standalone game that expands the original game’s universe. It features a different battle interface from first game but still puts an emphasis on hero collection and RPG mechanics.
As part of the game’s soft launch, Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner is now available in the Philippines, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Sweden. The small list of countries may expand in the future, and gamers that participated in the game’s closed beta test may be sent special invites.
While progress from the Last Summoner closed beta test has been wiped, progress made during the game’s soft launch will be kept. As is the case with many soft launches, while data will not be wiped, players should expect some changes to be made between now and the game’s official launch.
The current test is exclusive to Android, and iOS users will need to wait for the worldwide launch to play the game. There has been no announcement as to when the The Last Summoner’s global launch will take place. Soft launches vary greatly in length, with some lasting only a day while others last more than a year.
Of note is the fact that Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner will use the same application in Europe, Oceania, and Southeast Asia. This is the same approach that Gumi had taken with The Alchemist Code and is a departure from the original Brave Frontier which has a unique app for European Android users.
Some users have reported trouble finding the game on Google Play even though they’re in one of the soft launch regions, this is a temporary issue that occasionally happens with newly launched games and apps. Users can access the game through the Google Play link at the bottom of this page. Note that the store link will not work in any non-soft launch region unless users are browsing through a VPN or otherwise viewing a soft launch region’s Google Play store page.
Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner is free to play and contain in app purchases. The game is expected to launch this summer but does not have an official release date at this time. Here’s a trailer with a look at the newly soft launched game:
