Since its release in 2014 Vector Point’s cart racer Beach Buggy Racing has been downloaded more than 50 million times from Google Play. Now the hit racing game is getting a proper sequel with Beach Buggy Racing 2. The original Beach Buggy Racing is itself a follow up to the developer’s Beach Buggy Blitz, which was less of a racing game and more of an endless driving title.
For the sequel the developer is promising gamers a slew of new additions, and at the top of the list is online play. Beach Buggy Racing 2 will allow players to play against each other online in competitions and tournaments. The game will also feature 50 upgradeable power ups to collect and customizeable loadouts.
The upcoming cart racer will utilize Amazon’s new Amazon GameOn service for its competitions and tournaments. GameOn gives developers tools to create online competitions, tournaments, and events. The service gives the developer the option of having real world prizes fullfilled by Amazon, though prizes are only available for gamers in the U.S.
Vector Point is a California based developer that is best known for the Beach Buggy Racing and Riptide GP but has released a number of other titles gamers may now. The company’s titles include Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Shiner Runner, and Mousebot.
Beach Buggy Racing 2 will be free to play. The game will first launch on mobile and will later be released as a premium title on Steam and consoles. It does not currenly have a scheduled release date but the developer is targetting early Summer 2018 for the game’s worldwide launch.
