Curacha Games has released a new mobile dungeon crawling RPG. Heretic Gods – Ragnarok is an action RPG that is very much inspired by Blizzard’s Diablo franchise. Players delve into a world built around Norse Mythology and a monster filled dungeon beneath the abbey. As they delve deeper into the dungeon they can level up, acquire new gear, and customize their character with new skills.
The Diablo similarities don’t end there. Heretic Gods – Ragnarok promises plenty of features that Diablo fans will find familiar. That includes set item bonuses, an NPC that sells unidentified items allowing players to gamble with their coin, and procedurally generated dungeons.
Although not labeled as “in development”, Heretic Gods is still in early access. The game’s developer states that the game is still not quite finished and will undergo further changes in the future. The game’s character data is also not backed up, so players will lose their progress if they uninstall the game.
There has always been some demand for games that recreate the magic of the Diablo franchise on mobile. Many gamers have tried out dungeon crawling games only to find out that they follow a tried and true mobile action RPG formula that doesn’t give gamers much control. Gameloft’s Dungeon Hunter franchise, DotEmu’s port of Titan Quest, and the upcoming Guardians: A Torchlight Game have done admirable job of creating Diablo-like experiences on mobile.
Heretic Gods – Ragnarok is free and contains ads and in app purchases. Here is an excerpt from the game’s description and a trailer with more information:
