“Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery” is coming to mobile devices next year
When the upcoming Harry Potter: Wizards Unite augmented reality game was announced, Warner Bros. also announced the creation of Portkey Games. Portkey was created to handle future Harry Potter games. Up until this announcement Harry Potter has been a franchise that has been underutilized when it comes to games. Right now the only official Harry Potter games available on Android are the two LEGO Harry Potter games and a hidden object game based on Fantastic Beasts. To help give mobile gamers more options, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the second mobile project that Portkey Games is involved with has been announced.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is an upcoming Android and iOS games that will put players in the shoes of a new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Players will be able to to attend magical classes and participate in activities like Defense Against The Dark Arts and Dueling Club. The game is scheduled to be released some time in 2018. It does not have an official price, but gamers should expect the game to be free and contain in app purchases.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is being developed by Jam City. Jam City is best known for the bubble popping puzzle game Panda Pop and match 3 game Cookie Jame. The developer is no stranger to making licensed games and content, with current events in their games featuring characters from The Grinch and CoCo. They have also released licensed Snoopy and Family Guy puzzle games.
