“Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia” Has a Release Date

Before the release of Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, Square Enix has revealed that another Final Fantasy game is coming to Android and iOS. Already available in Japan, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is a turn-based RPG featuring dozens of characters from previous Final Fantasy titles. Along with a cast of familiar characters, Opera Omnia promises an original story to play through, a co-op mode, and a variety of equipment and abilities to choose from.

As this will be a free to play title, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia will feature some things that gamers often dislike about F2P games. The two features gamers are most likely to have a problem with is the availability of “auto mode” for combat, and the ability to summon equipment using premium currency through the game’s gacha mechanics. As part of the game’s announcement, Square Enix has opened up pre-registration. Pre-registration helps work towards a special reward of up to 5000 in-game diamonds. Diamonds are Opera Omnia’s premium currency, and 5000 diamonds is enough for a 10+1 premium equipment summon in the Japanese version of the game.

The amount of gems awarded will be based on the total number of Facebook likes, Twitter follows, and pre-registrations. Players will receive 5000 gems at launch if the that total is at least 200,000 or 2000 gems if the total is 100,000-199,999 and lower amounts if the total number of likes, follows and pre-registration is lower than that.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia will be free and will contain in app purchases when it launches. The scheduled release date is January 30th, 2018. Here is an excerpt from the game’s description and a trailer with more information:

DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY OPERA OMNIA continues the DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY adventure on mobile devices, where players can form parties from dozens of their favorite FINAL FANTASY heroes and villains and equip them with a variety of weapons from the series. The title features an extensive story and strategic turn-based combat that the FINAL FANTASY series is known for.

The unique Bravery system challenges bring greater depth to the battle system—players must build their Bravery through special attacks in battle and wait for the right moment to strike. Additionally, players can join forces with friends and other players in a full multiplayer experience, challenging powerful enemies to win rewards.
