What is Cat Bird?

Cat Bird is a 2D indie pixel-art platformer starring Cat Bird hybrid monstrosity (a cute monstrosity, but a monstrosity nonetheless). It features 45 short, sometimes difficult, levels where players avoid hazards on their way to the level’s exit. Players have control of left & right movement and a jump button that can be held down to glide. On top of the basic point a to point b primary goal of each level, some levels also contain special crowns that are typically much harder to get to than the level’s exit. If you’re trying to show off how good you are at the game, it also has a time trial mode that times you as you run through one of the game’s three worlds.

Recommendation

Cat Bird is a fantastic mobile game, and one of the best platformers on Android. While it doesn’t break any new ground, as there are a number of very similar games like Reed, Cat Bird executes everything quite well. The pixel-art graphics are done in a way that doesn’t make it seem like it’s retro for the sake of retro, the game’s audio perfectly fits the visuals, and the controls are just as tight as they need to be for a platformer like this. Difficulty could have been a bit higher, but if you need a challenge you could always try fore a speed run. The 45 levels the game has to offer also won’t take very long to finish, but they’re still worth finishing. If you’re looking for a great mobile platformer, Cat Bird could be it.
